Katie Sargent

Connecting & Equipping Assistant

I grew up in Arlington, Texas, with parents that truly loved God and modeled that in our household. When I was six years old, they sent me to a summer camp where my counselor shared that God loved me and that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for my “timeouts”. In high school, I was surrounded by incredible friends and mentors who loved me and showed what it looks like to follow Jesus in community. I am far from perfect and still struggle with sin daily, but I am confident God knows everything I’ve ever done or thought or said, and He still loves me and accepts me and calls me His daughter. This is not because of anything I’ve done or could do, but because of His infinite mercy and grace. After high school, I attended the University of Alabama (roll tide!) where I developed a love for cheese grits, walks by the river, and college football.

I got connected to a ministry and a local church that eventually sent me to East Asia to serve as an overseas missionary for a year. It was the hardest year of my life, but the Lord grew my faith and did amazing work through our team. When I moved back to Fort Worth, God used His people to invite me to Watermark. God has loved me so thoroughly at our church, particularly through the girls in my community group. I am thrilled to be serving on the Connecting and Equipping teams at Watermark, a place where I’ve been challenged and encouraged and strengthened in my relationship with Christ! I specialize in relaxing. I drink a lot of coffee. The fastest way to my heart is through tacos or pie. The greatest blessings in my life are my husband David who I get to marry this fall, my friends, my family, and watching reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
